General Practitioners

A female general practitioner talks with her patient, a middle aged man, in the privacy and of her clinical rooms.

The Psychiatric Medicine program for General Practitioners has been developed for practicing General Practitioners (GP) and GP Registrars in liaison with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP). This innovative course allows students to apply the latest knowledge and perspectives to their practice with particular focus to the treatment and management of mental illness between health professionals, ensuring those with mental illness receive the most supportive journey to recovery.

This contemporary recovery-oriented program fosters collaboration with other medical specialists including Psychiatry Trainees and Rural and Remote Medicine Specialists, with assessment tasks aligned to the specialisation of General Practice.

Further information on the Psychiatric Medicine program including study options and other specialisations can be accessed at the Psychiatric Medicine Overview webpage.
